When must I File Corporate Documents?

In order for a document such as the articles of incorporation to be acceptable to the secretary of state or other appropriate officer, the document must be accepted for filing at the time filing is made with the secretary or officer.  Once the secretary or officer accepts and files the document, the secretary or officer will affix the word "filed," along with his or her name and title.  Unless a later date is specified, the corporate existence of a corporation will begin when the Articles of Incorporation are filed with the Secretary of State.
